A multi-academy trust had been experiencing several problems with trespassers during the summer months, including individuals climbing over fences and entering school grounds. Once they gained access, they would cause various types of trouble, including graffitiing school property, hosting parties, and leaving hazardous litter, such as glass bottles and disposable barbecues. These activities presented safety concerns for the children attending the school’s summer camp, as well as potential legal liability for the trust.
When the school reported the problem to the police, the police advised the gatherings were not a matter for them and recommended improving security on-site. To address this issue, the trust decided to implement ESG Security’s mobile patrol service, which provided random evening patrols by licensed and uniformed, SIA Security Officers, in security marked vehicles.
The Security Officers conducted foot patrols during each visit to ensure the school’s premises were secure, and no unauthorised visitors were present. All vehicles used by the Security Officers were fitted with dash-cams and GPS tracking, which confirmed the Security Officers location, arrival and exit time from the site.
The Security Officers presence and vigilance have effectively deterred trespassers and troublemakers from entering the school grounds and causing damage and leaving hazardous litter. As a result, parents and stakeholders have provided positive feedback. The success of ESG Security’s mobile patrol service has allowed teachers to focus on providing a safe and enjoyable summer camp, free from potential hazards and distractions.
