Crime Prevention at Business Parks 31 March 2023

Fears were raised about drug dealers using a road outside a business park to peddle their wares. ESG Security deployed a CCTV tower as a deterrent, which gradually reduced these types of incidents.

Delivery drivers to a business park reported to businesses that the surrounding road was becoming a drug spot. This was understandably causing concern for the tenants and delivery drivers, potentially even causing disruption for the businesses operating 24/7.

After a discussion with the client it was agreed a CCTV tower would benefit the overall security of the site. The highly visible 7m tower was placed in a strategic location that provided clear coverage of the surrounding road. Key features of this all-in-one surveillance solution include 4G transmission of video and alarms, a HD infrared 360° PTZ camera, loudspeaker and local recording capability.

Its multiple camera angles were proactively monitored by SIA licenced PSS CCTV operatives at our 24-hour Control Room. Our operatives were able to identify those responsible and pass evidence to the police. The operatives used the towers loudspeaker to alert the drivers they were being recorded. In most cases this was enough to deter illegal behaviour.

The deployment of the CCTV tower was successful in deterring criminal activity in the area. The tenants closest to where the activity had been taking place reported feeling safer and more secure, and the management of the business park received positive feedback from other tenants who appreciated the extra security.
